Galaxy Themed Wedding at the Adler Planetarium
Carmen + Chester
Sunday, August 21st was a warm summer day. This is the day that Carmen and Chester would say their vows to one another. The day started at a couple of condos that were rented out in Chinatown. Carmen and Chester each had their own unit where they got ready. Spirits were high and everyone was ready to celebrate their love. Afterwards, everyone proceeded to the Adler Planetarium in Chicago, IL. This is where the ceremony and celebration would be, at least for day 1 of the 2 day wedding extravaganza. The Adler Planetarium presented many unique opportunities for creative images, which I took advantage of.
The ceremony took place during golden hour and it was such a sweet and intimate moment. After they ceremony, the guests enjoyed cocktail hour in Carmen and Chester’s own exhibit, decorated so amazingly with personal touches everywhere. It was easy to see that everyone was enjoying themselves to the fullest. The reception started with Carmen and Chester dancing under the moon, which was so fun to photograph. Karaoke followed and we finished with some night photography. It was such a fun and beautiful day. And we still had the next day!
Day 2: The day started at Carmen’s mom’s house where door games were played. Door games are challenges set up by the bridesmaids for the groom and groomsmen as a ceremonial demonstration of the groom's love for the bride. It was quite entertaining to watch! Chester finally proved his worth and was allowed inside, where he then had to find Carmen. When he finally found Carmen, they embraced in the most loving genuine way. It was amazing to document. It was now time to head to New Furama, where the tea ceremony and reception were to be held.
This 2 day wedding celebration was absolutely perfect. It was such an honor to be the one to document both days. Carmen and Chester are two of the sweetest people and I really enjoyed spending the weekend with them, along with their friends and family. Below is their wedding slideshow along with some photographs. I hope you enjoy!
